ORIGINAL DETROIT OPERA HOUSE 1885 photo picture print photograph for sale. This very rare ORIGINAL DETROIT OPERA HOUSE photo picture print for sale is a wonderful very early photographic image of this historic Detroit structure in 1885. It is a great angle showing the original Detroit Opera House in it's downtown environment. This sepia toned historic Detroit image has been made from a professionally restored Original black and white vintage photo/negative. This original Detroit Opera House burned down in 1897, a few years after this photograph was taken. Julia Arthur was playing at the theatre at the time this photograph was taken. The Theatre was upstairs, with other businesses being on the street level. On the actual photograph you can read 'Detroit Opera House' in bold letters at the base of the ornate roof. The ORIGINAL DETROIT OPERA HOUSE sat pretty much where Compuware presently sits on Campus Martius in downtown Detroit.
